The Women of Distinction Awards event began in 1985 through the YWCA. The annual event recognizes the extraordinary accomplishments and leadership of women in Waukesha County who have demonstrated their passion and commitment to improving the quality of life in Waukesha County while inspiring other women and girls to do the same.  

2025 Nominations Now Being Accepted!

Nominations accepted until Friday, January 31, 2025

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2025 Women of Distinction and Young Women of Tomorrow. Nominees should personify an exceptional spirit of service and commitment for women and girls in Waukesha County through giving back to the community.

Women of Distinction Award Criteria:

  • Serves as an inspiration to women and girls alike.
  • Dedicated to helping women and girls achieve their goals.
  • Shows selfless dedication to a cause or outcome.
  • Personifies the spirit of service and commitment.
  • Committed to advancing all women regardless of background and works to amplify diverse voices.
  • Exhibits leadership and paves the way for women in their field of expertise.
  • Gives back to the community through time, talent and resources.
  • Advocates for positive social change.
  • Demonstrates teamwork, integrity and dedication to a goal.
  • Exhibits selfless determination and resourcefulness.
  • Showcases a spirit of spunk and contagious enthusiasm.

Young Women of Tomorrow Award Criteria:

The nominee must demonstrate:

  • Commitment to improving the quality of life in Waukesha County, unusual for someone of her age
  • The ability to inspire other young women to realize and achieve their goals
  • Leadership, integrity, and teamwork
  • Excellence, accomplishment, and creativity through extracurricular and academic involvement

Prior nominees may be re-nominated (all materials must be resubmitted). Women and Girls Fund directors and committee members are not eligible for nomination.
